Human body

In project time we are writing poems about the human body. To experiment we jump roped since this involves the human body. To learn how to write the poems we watched a brain pop video about poems but we also did some ordinary class work about poems.

For example this is a poem I wrote:

I love my body it's skin heats me it cools me it holds me in. I love my body.

POEMS!

Whoa didn't see you there!  I am here to tell you we have been exploring poems in reading.  Here are some examples:"To Catch a Fish" and "Lawnmower".  They are also my favorite poems.  We have also made a list about what is true in poetry and talked about powerful words.

  Lawnmower
by:Valerie Worth
The lawnmower
Grind it's teeth
Over the grass
Spitting out a thick green spray
It's head too full
Of iron and oil
To know
What it throws
Away:
The lawn's whole
Crop of chopped
Soft
Delicious
Green hay.

Well that's all the time I have!  Bye!

Volcano Project

Hi, do you want to learn about our volcano project? Great, this is how we made the volcano. First we got the ingredients liquid dishwashing detergent, baking soda, vingar, red food coloring, water, a plastic cup between 4 inches and 6 inches high, a bucket of sand, play dough or plaster, a measuring cup, a piece of card board or a plate, white, black or red paint, and thats all you need. And now you are going to learn how to make your own volcano. First you put ¼ cup of baking soda in to the measuring cup. Add 1 ounce of liquid dishwashing detergent and some drops of food coloring to the baking soda. Then put some sand aroud the cup shaped into a volcano. After that put just a little bit of water onto the sand to make it stick together. Then put a small amount of water to the plaster and mix it. Then put the plaster on the volcano until it dries. When the plaster is dry, try to paint it like a volcano. You can decorate around the volcano. And last you put the vinegar in the cup of magma. You should see your volcano begin to erupt. Enjoy your volcano!

Fiction Text Features

In room 302 we are learning about story elements.  An example is the main character that keeps the story going.  There is also the time and place, or plot.  Another example is when at the beginning everyone is happy but in the middle there is a problem or conflict that is normally fixed. That is called the solution.
